Bird Cage & Flowers

Hello everyone!! I'm here to share a card that I made this week. This is the last card I made before packing up my craft stuff.
I got some Our Daily Bread Designs Stamps recently and I wanted to play with them. Here's the card:

The flower image is from Our Daily Bread Design's Corner Flower stamp set. I stamped it on white card stock and colored with my water based markers and fuzzy cut it.

The bird cage and the flourish die cuts are from my stash. The butterfly is cut with my MS punch and colored. Hope you can see the shimmer on the butterfly.

So, do you like it? Do let me know!!

Thanks for stopping by. I enjoy and appreciate each of your comments.

Beautiful Day

Hello everyone!! Here is another card that I made this week. Well, I hope you aren't bored with my gold on vellum cards because this is one of them :)

The image is from Unity Stamp's Best things just happen stamp set. I stamped it on vellum and heat embossed it with Hero Arts gold powder. I colored on the backside of the vellum. It is actually a coral/peach color.

The sentiment is from Unity Stamps' BUNCHES OF {LOVE} stamp set. It is heat embossed with gold powder. I used ivory card base for this card.

This card was inspired by Deepti's card for this month's CASEplorations Challenge in the STAMPlorations blog.

A bit of news - we are moving to NJ this weekend. I have made a few more cards before packing up my craft stuff which I'll be sharing soon. I might be packing/unpacking for a few days/week. Once I get settled, I will be back in my new craft space (I guess I'll get a small space with a table). Till then, I might be on and off. I'll be visiting your blogs in the mean time :)

Do let me know your thoughts and suggestions. Thanks for stopping by.

Merry & Bright Christmas

Hello everyone!! I'm back to share a Christmas card that I made this week. I'm really loving this gold embossing on vellum. It gives a very elegant look to the card. Have a look here:

I stamped the Poinsettia image from Joanna Sheen's Make A Wish stamp set on vellum and heat embossed it wit Hero Arts gold powder. I colored it on the back with my water-based markers.

I then stamped the sentiment from Sweet n Sassy Stamps' Christmas Penguins Clear Stamp Set and heat embossed it with gold powder.

I then mounted the vellum on ivory card base. I really love the look of the ivory background!!

Lesson learnt: Be very careful when using liquid adhesive on the colored side of the image :) I had a small accident and spoiled 1 card base :)

How can I not mention what started me on this gold on vellum phase!! I was inspired by Virginia Lu's card which was selected for this month's CASEploration Challenge in the STAMPlorations blog.

Faux Silk

Hello everyone!! I'm sharing a stamping technique that I tried out recently. I was inspired by Rajni Chawla's contest to follow a video tutorial on Youtube and create your own project using the technique. I used to shy away from the video tutorials and used to prefer pictorial tutorials until a few months back. Maybe it was because, back then our internet connection was very slow and the videos used to take a lot of time to stream and I usually don't have the patience. Now I've started to watch videos from certain channels on a regular basis and I really enjoy them!!

I found this technique called Faux Silk technique or the Tissue paper technique. Most of you might know it already. But it was certainly new to me. So I decided to try it. I watched 2 videos on this technique - Lisa's Faux Silk technique and Christine's Faux Silk technique. Both of these videos explained the technique very well. Do watch them when you get the time.

Here's the first card I made using this technique (Ya!! I made 2 cards):

I used white tissue paper and stamped it with the rose and leaf from Winnie & Walter's - The Big, the Bold and Extras with grey and silver inks. I also stamped the dots from the same stamp set with white ink to give a soft accent. I really tried hard to get them on picture. I then glued the tissue paper on to white cardstock and trimmed off the excess.

I stamped the banner from the same set on to white tissue paper with grey ink. The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter's The Big, the Bold and You. I glued this tissue paper on to white cardstock and fussy cut it. I then mounted it on the other tissue paper panel with foam tape. I added a few iridescent sequins. I mounted it on 5x7 card base. I didn't have grey colored cardstock. So I used my marker to draw the border around the tissue paper panel.

The color combination was inspired by Shay's card in the Parentville Extras Rerun. This is her card.

For the second card, I thought of trying embossing.

I used a light peach colored tissue for this. I love this color. I stamped it with LOTV Corners Magical Florals (psst this was my first stamp set :D) and embossed it with gold powder. The sentiment is from Unity Stamp Co's Basically Said. I embossed it with Hero Arts gold powder. I glued the tissue paper on to white cardstock (actually it is advised to use the same color cardstock as the tissue, but I wanted to try using white cardstock.) I wanted to add a border of gold, but I preferred the gold color to be similar to the embossed one. So I drew the border on my card base with my embossing pen and embossed it with gold powder. Then I mounted the panel onto my card base. I hope you can see the beautiful color combination of peach with gold.

Celebrate Today

Hello everyone!! I'm here to share a CAS card that I made recently.

Here it is:

The background is watercolored with Yasutomo Pearlescent colors. It has a light shimmer to it. I couldn't capture it in the picture. I tried to create an ombre background with it.

I stamped the roses from Winnie & Walter's The Big, the Bold and Extras stamp set on vellum. I love the flowers from this set. I embossed it with gold powder and fussy cut it. The banner and sentiment are also from the same set. I let the banner be in a slightly curved position to give it some dimension.

If you are interested in stamping/embossing on vellum, do check out Dr Sonia's post here. She has done it both on vellum and parchment paper.

Anniversary Wreath

Hello everyone!! I'm here to share another anniversary card that I made. Of late, I seem to be making quite a few gate fold cards and this is one of them.

Here it is:

The image is a newsletter exclusive from Inspired By Stamping. I love this image. I've been waiting to use it from the day I say it in my mail :) I fuzzy cut one half of the image. I colored it using my Faber Castell connector pens. I used some glitter on the butterflies.

The sentiment is "written" by my Cricut Explore. The image is also "drawn" by Cricut Explore. Still learning the curves :)

The ribbon and brad are from my stash.

Congrats Flowers

Hello everyone!! I'm sharing another card that I made over the weekend. I've been planning to try stamping on vellum for a very long time. So when I saw a few cards in this style and a CASE challenge on them, I decided to take it. So here's my card:

I used the flowers and leaves from Winnie & Walter's the Big, the Bold and the Extras. This is one of my favorite stamps to color. I masked and stamped the flowers on the right lower corner of the vellum panel and let it overflow onto the black cardstock. I then embossed it with gold powder. I colored it with Faber Castell connector pens.

The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter's the Big, the Bold and You. I embossed it with gold powder. I then added a thin strip of glitter tape around the vellum.

I'm on a card making spree now thanks to Kathy's 30 Day Coloring Challenge :) It is really a stress buster.

Thanks for stopping by. Do let me know your suggestions and comments.

Congratulations Baby Boy

Hello everyone!! I'm sharing a Congratulations card that I made for a family friend of ours who had a baby boy recently.

Here is the card:

I used DCWV Embossed paper and layered it on a panel of blue paper. The blue onesie is cut using my Cricut. It is one of the free images.

The sentiment is a stamp from Unity Stamp Co's Basically Said stamp set. I stamped it with Tsukineko Dew Drops Sea Breeze ink and embossed it with clear gloss powder from WOW!

It is a pretty simple card. Please let me know your thoughts.

Hello

Hello everyone!! Another quick post to share a watercolor note card that I made a few days ago but forgot to post :)

Here it is:

This cutie is from the Close To My Heart's Cuddly Salutations. I colored her with pearlescent watercolors. I gave a light blue and green wash to the background. I then mounted the watercolor panel on yellow cardstock.

I'm adding this to the watercolor blog hop hosted by Paulina of Pretty Pink Posh.

Hello everyone!! This is a quick post to share the water colored card that I made for the Watercolor Blog Hop hosted by Paulina of Pretty Pink Posh.

Here is my card:

I used the roses and leaves are from Winnie & Walter's The Big, The Bold and The Extras set. I stamped them on watercolor paper and colored them using watercolor. I then fussy cut them. The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter's The Big, The Bold and You set. I stamped the sentiment on the watercolor paper for a watercolored look.

A closer look at the flowers:

How do you like it? I discovered I'm not good with watercolors :) Need a lot more practice.

Filigree Heart

Hello everyone!! I'm sharing the card that I made for my husband on our 4th wedding Anniversary, which was on June 3rd. I had to make a second card, since I couldn't stop myself from adding flowers on the first one :)

Here is the card:

It is a gate fold card with overlapping panels from both sides. I used DCWV Blue Stripe pattern paper. The image is Lili of the Valley's Filigree Heart stamp. I used Navy blue ink for stamping.

Both the sentiments are hand-written. How do you like it? Back when I was in school, I used to write in a similar way in my record notes :) After a long time, I tried to write that way :)

A closer look at the overlapping gate fold panels:

The ribbon and the glitter heart are from my stash.
