After seeing Dr. Sonia's post on salt dough papaya, I wanted to try salt dough projects. Now, I have joined a pin swap in CDAC and my theme is air which means I have to use the colors white and/or yellow. I couldn't find any 'different' bead in white or yellow color in shop, so I decided to make something on my own!! So here is the final result - salt dough flowers.
I got the recipe from Dr. Sonia's post. After baking them, I colored them using poster colors and applied varnish. But it didn't have a glossy effect. So I thought of applying nail polish!! Yes, you heard it right!! I had an old nail polish in light cream color and that was perfect for my flowers!!
More details on my stick pins will be posted soon!!

WOW poster colors and nail polish is amazing! I used acrylic in pearl colors to get the shine. Varnish from the hardware shops also gives a shiny sheen. I am so thrilled my tutorial was useful to you. Recently we have been crafting with ceramic..if you liked salt dough you will be even more thrilled with ceramic..will share the tutorial on my blog as soon as I get a breather from work!
Thank you so much!! I sure will!! :)
Thank you so much Karen :)
Oh.. probably I got the wrong varnish.. It said 'picture varnish' and I got it from a craft store... ya.. I found using nail polish was cheaper as well ;) and yes!! please do post more info on your ceramic projects!! would love to try them!! Thank you so much for dropping by.
