Spinning Ornament

Hello everyone!! Recently I saw a few cards with spinners. I've never made one of those before and the idea fascinated me. So I decided to make one and since I'm in the Christmas card mode, the ornament seemed like a perfect fit ;)

I started with the ornament. I gold embossed 2 ornaments from Joanna Sheen's Make a Wish (this is no longer available, but happens to be my favorite). I colored them by sponging Distress Ink Barn Door and Vintage Photo just around the edges. The embossing resists the ink. Now to make the window, I die cut a oval from my white card base and a kraft card stock. I took a piece of fishing line and sandwiched it between the ornaments - the back side of the ornaments facing each other with the thread in between them. I hope that makes sense. I adhered it on the card base, with the ornament in the middle of the window. On the kraft card stock, I gold embossed the design and sentiment from Penny Black - A Bright Tomorrow stamp set. Now I adhered it on to the card base by aligning the window. It was pretty easy to make, but is so beautiful with the interactive element.

Hello everyone! How are you today? I'm here to share a very simple Christmas card that I made.

I recently won a giveaway from Penny Black and got the beautiful A Bright Tomorrow stamp set. It has beautiful Christmas/Winter images. I embossed the beautiful flourishes from this stamp set with Wow! White pearl embossing powder. I should say that I'm in love with this powder. It's so pretty. I also embossed the sentiment from a Hero Arts set with the same white pearl powder. I applies Distress Ink Tumbled Glass, Broken China and a little bit of Mermaid lagoon over the embossed images. The embossed images resist the ink and stay white! I added a few Nuvo drops in Ivory Seashell color. This is a pretty simple card to make.

Hello everyone!! Hope you are having a great day today. I'm here to post my inspiration post for Inspired By Stamping.

Every year, in November I decide that the next year I'll start making Christmas cards in January. And this year I did start and made a few cards. But that's not going to help much! I need to make lots more. I just realized it's already August and I've missed the Christmas in July as well. So I decided to make a Christmas card for my August inspiration post.

Look at all the shimmer! Perfect for Christmas!! I've used the newly released Happy stamp set and the older Snowflake Wonder stamp set. I used Tonic Nuvo Glitter Markers for the background.

WARNING: This is a picture-heavy post. I wanted to show the beautiful shimmery goodness in all directions possible ;)

 

I took a watercolor card stock panel of size 4" x 5.25". I started by scribbling the Tonic Nuvo glitter markers on to my acrylic block. I used the 2 blue colors from the Midnight Shadows and the purple from the Northern Lights set.

I added a few drops of water to it and mixed it with a brush. Then I picked it up with the brush and colored the watercolor panel. I used the light blue on the top, followed by dark blue and purple towards the bottom.

After 1 coat of the colors, I let it dry before adding more. This is how it looked after 1 coat.

I continued adding more color to it. I decided that I want the bottom part to be more blue than purple. So I added a lot of the dark blue color over the purple.

Look at all the shiny shimmer here!!

Then I stamped the snowflakes from the Snowflake Wonder stamp set with Versamark ink and embossed them with Wow! White pearl embossing powder. It really is Wow!!

Now for the sentiment, I stamped "happy Christmas" from the newly released Happy stamp set and embossed it with the same white pearl embossing powder on watercolor cardstock. I then used the second largest die from the Fancy Labels die set and drew the outer outline of the die and cut it out with scissors. I didn't die cut with the die because it was a bit smaller for the way I stamped the sentiment and this size seemed perfect. Also I wanted to use the largest die of the set as a mat to the sentiment panel. I hope that makes sense.

I colored this panel with the light blue and the dark blue Nuvo glitter pens, in the same way as the background. And the same amount of shimmer ;)

To make a mat for this sentiment panel, I die cut a white card stock with the same die.

I added versamark ink on the edges of the die cut panel and embossed it with the same White pearl embossing powder from Wow!

Then added the sentiment panel on top of the embossed mat panel.

I added a piece of white satin ribbon to the background panel.

I popped the matted sentiment panel with foam tape.

Now for the card base, I used a top folding A2 card base. I embossed the edges of the front of the card base with the white pearl embossing powder.

I adhered the background panel on to the card base with double sided adhesive tape.

So, do you like it? I love this pearl embossing powder. It kind of gives a tone on tone look but when you tilt the card you see the pearly sheen. Maybe you can get a better idea when you see this tiny clip.
