Baby Crib and Dresser Card

Hello everyone!! I'm on the Scrapbookpal blog today. I have a cute baby card - I made this gender neutral, but you can make it in pink or blue too. Last year and this year, lots of our friends (and us) had/will have babies. I've been making welcome baby cards and thank you cards a lot more than other years. I made this card for one of our friends who had her baby shower recently.

I love making cards that have different than normal folds, but I don't make them as often as I'd like to. I want the baby cards to be really special, so I try to make them a special fold. This is a side step crib and dresser card.

First I took a 100# card stock and cut it to 7" x 10". I then cut and scored the card to make it in to a side step card.

This is the measurements I used.

Next I cut the pieces for the dresser. I used grey card stock for the furniture. I cut a piece of size 4" x 5" and cut off a tiny piece at the bottom to make it look like it had 2 legs. I then cut 3 pieces of size 1" x 3 1/2" for the drawers.

On to the crib part now. The crib is made of tiny strips of card stock. I cut 2 strips of length 4" for the  vertical frame, 2 strips of length 3" for the horizontal frame and 5 strips of length 2 3/4" for the railings. It might look a little daunting, but trust me, it's so easy. Having a grid underneath helps in adhering the strips uniformly. I adhered the railings to 1 of the horizontal frame. Then I adhered the other horizontal frame to the vertical pieces of the frame. Then adhere them all together. Doing it in this order was easier for me.

Now back to the dresser. I sponged some Memento London Fog ink to the edges of the drawers. The card stock color was very close to this color, so adding the ink gave a slight definition to the drawers.

Now comes the fun part - putting all together. I used foam tape to adhere the drawers on to the dresser. For the rest, I used glue. I added a drawer below the crib and added pearls for all the drawer pulls.

The cute stuff - I die cut all the pieces for the cute baby onesies, bib and blocks using the Sizzix Thinlits Dies - New Baby #2 by Lisa Jones die set on green pattern paper and yellow card stock. I cut a triangle out of green pattern paper to make the blanket. I assembled the pieces and adhered them together to make the baby embellishments.

The onesie deserves a hanger I think. So I used a paper clip to make the hanger. I adhered the hanger to the back of the onesie. There's something about onesies on hangers!!

Here's the fully embellished card! How cute is that!!

What do you think? I loved how this had turned out. The recipient and the others in the baby shower loved it. Please let me know your thoughts and comments!

Thank you for stopping by today. Have a great day!

Tri-fold Shaker Card

Hello everyone!! I'm on the Craftwell blog today, with this tri-fold, see through shaker thank you card.

I started by making the see through shaker. I die cut 2 hot air balloons using the Sizzix Hot Air Balloon Die on the patterned paper pad from Brutus Monroe. I took a piece of string attached the balloon and the basket part to it, leaving enough length at both ends of the string, so that I can attach the ends of the string to the frame. Now I adhered the other balloon and the basket on the back side, so that the thread is sandwiched between the 2 pieces of balloons and both front and back looks the same. I took a panel of size 4 3/4" x 5 1/2" of card base weight (110 lbs) and scored at 1/2" mark along the 4 3/4" side. This 1/2" will later be adhered to a A2 card base, making a tri-fold. In this panel, I cut out a window leaving a border of 1/2" along all sides. I adhered acetate on to it. I sandwiched the thread from the hot air balloon between the window panel and foam tape, on the top and bottom. I added shaker mix from Doodles Paper Playground. I closed the shaker with acetate on other side as well. I took out a panel of Silver glitterstock from Brutus Monroe and cut out a window frame, leaving 1/2" around all the sides. I adhered this frame on the shaker panel, to hide the foam tape.

Now I took a regular A2 cardbase and adhered the 1/2" extending out from the shaker panel on to one end of the card base. I inked one of the panels with BM Speckled Ink with the BM Cloud stencil to create a sky like scene. I die cut the sentiment "Thanks" using the BM thanks die on silver glitterstock and added it to the panel. Here's a view of the card, fully opened up.

Welcome Little One

Hello everyone! I'm on the Craftwell blog today with a beautiful card for a baby girl.

As many of you might know, it was only recently that I started using dies for my cards and I must say I love making cards with the dies.  For this card, I used the Spellbinders - A2 Scallop Borders die set and the Spellbinders - Renaissance tags die set. The sentiment is from the Tubby Craft - Fancy Sentiments stamp set.

I love how this card has turned out. What What do you think? Do let me know in the comments.

Baby Boy Dresser Card

Hello everyone!! It's time for a new challenge at the Unstampabelles. The theme for this month is 'Boys will be boys' and the twist is to journal about the qualities of a good masculine card. Masculine cards are generally a challenge to make, for people especially like me who cannot refrain from adding a flower, butterfly or a rhinestone. Our challenge encourages you to have a go at making a card for a male of any age, without the use of stamps!

Here is my inspiration:

I was planning to create a dresser card for a long time. Initially I thought of using brown cardstock for the dresser. Then I thought most of the baby dressers in Ikea is white or a light color. So I went with white :) The polka dot embossed card is from DCWV.

I had cut the onesie with my Cricut Explore previously. I embossed the teddy bear using an embosser and then followed the lines to fussy cut it. I added the eyes and nose with my black gel pen.

I used my tiny baby handprint punch to cut the shape of a baby's hand and added it to a frame which I inked with light blue ink.

I added a banner with the hand-written sentiment 'It's a boy'. I folder a piece of the same pattern paper I had used for the onesie to resemble a blanket flowing out of the drawer.

What do I consider to be the qualities of a masculine card -First of all, no butterflies or flowers. And certainly no pink. Sports, Super heros and gadgets can be added as the main focus.

Thanks for stopping by. Do let me know your thoughts and suggestions. Please visit the other design team members' creations as well. They are sure to inspire you with their lovely creations. Don't forget to enter the Unstampabelles challenge. The prize is the set of awesome decoupage sheets and stickers sheets.

CAS Baby Card

Hello people, I'm back with another CAS card. I made this for a couple who had a baby recently. The baby was a cute girl :) I love girls :) I've always wanted girls. You can dress them up in many beautiful attires and make so many accessories for them. Luckily mine is a girl :) She's only 9 months now.

So here is the card:

My husband had bought me an embossing punch from Itsy Bitsy in Bangalore. I used it for the first time in this card. The flower, doll, butterfly and teddy bear are embossed using it. A closer look at the embossing.

The butterfly is punched using an MS punch. Another view of the card.

Princess On Board

Hello all, I'm back again with a baby project!!

Recently we bought a "Princess on Board" hanging for our car. It was beautiful. But the crafty me wanted to alter it into a more girly-crafty hanging ;) I can hear what you are saying ;)

Here is the hanging before altering:

Ta-da!! After altering:

I added some punched lacy borders. I also added a few pearls to the crown. People who read my recent posts would have realized by now that I'm addicted to butterflies (especially my new MS Butterfly punch) ;) I also added a few flowers with punched leaves.

A view from a different angle to show the butterfly and flowers:

Hope this has made the hanging more girly and beautiful.

Butterfly & Flowers Baby Mobile

Hello all, I'm back with a butterfly and baby mobile which I made for my daughter (She's 4 months old now!!) She likes to see things which are swaying, so I guess this will draw her attention!!

I bought 2 of the DIY flowers and sparkles mobile kit from Itsy Bitsy, as soon as my daughter was born. But I could't find the time to do it. Recently, I saw a butterfly baby mobile on Etsy. I wanted to do something similar. So I decided to do a baby mobile with flowers and butterfly, in lavender and pink colors, perfect for a baby girl!!

Since I had 2 of the DIY kits, there were a lot of foam flowers in it. Each kit had 2 strings that will form a plus shaped frame for the mobile and it had pink and lavender beads on it. I joined all the 4 strings together and a circle out of it. Then, I punched out butterflies from pink and lavender colored papers and strung in transparent string. There are 2 butterflies in each butterfly hanging, so that, in whatever direction you look, you can see a butterfly.

For the center hanging, I used 4 butterflies - 2 each of pink and lavender colors.

I added a few bows and used ribbon for hanging it.

I'm not very satisfied with the result. It looks very naive. This is my first attempt and hope to improve in the future!!
